We eat turtles, alligators, and squirrels, but mostly we eat fish. That’s what you eat when you live in a swamp. Ellen and I live on the Guadalupe River Delta on the Texas Gulf Coast. I have lived here all my life . . . Ellen came to live with me two years ago after commuting for six years.
Ellen is a city gal, much like Eileen in my novel Into Autumn. I teach her the ways of the swamp and she teaches me more than I could have ever imagined. Ellen loves the catfish, eels, and blue crabs the river provides. She is becoming a darn good fisherwoman too.
We are both good cooks . . . different styles of cooking, but that only gives us more variety. I make a mean platter of fudge. We both love to travel and take exotic vacations regularly, but my favorite destination is Las Vegas to play in the World Series of Poker which I have done for over a decade now. I cashed the Senior Championship three consecutive years.
That’s enough about me and Ellen. If you want to know more, it’s scattered over this and other websites. Let’s see some book covers, followed by a couple cartoons I came across recently.
